A beginner's workshop for acoustic guitar. Start with the basics of how to string your guitar and keep it sounding and looking good. Learn how to tune your guitar by ear or with a tuner, basic chords, picking and strumming techniques and keeping in time. Tutor can provide information on free apps you can use for tuning and timing. By the end of the workshop you will be able to play basic tunes. Bring your acoustic guitar and requirements listed on Confirmation/website. No concession.
Agenda
• Learn to keep your guitar sounding and looking good
• Stringing up and adjusting to suit player and care of your guitar
• Ear training - how to tune your instrument by ear or with tuner
• Free guitar tuning and metronome apps available on request or download via internet
• Familiarisation of fret board, open notes and chords
• Learn Basic chords and play 1, 1V, V progressions in a common major key
• Learn to use them in a tune/song
• Learn basic picking and strumming techniques. Techniques to keep in time
• Basic chord 1, 1V, V progressions in minor Key
• Learn to make a key change in a basic song in 1, 1V, V progressions, common keys
Materials
Bring lunch, mug for tea/coffee, your acoustic guitar and plectrum, pen or pencil with eraser. If you have a tuner bring it, if not bring a USB drive (2 or 4GB) or iphone, ipad/smart phone.
If going to your course via the M5 please be aware that occasional roadwork on weekends may extend your travel time. Please allow plenty of time to arrive at your course on time.
