Make that home-made pie or pastry that will be the talk of your next party or dinner. You will learn the secrets to making sweet and savoury pastries by a qualified Chef/Pastry Chef. You will make delicious pies and pastries to eat or take home. Fee covers tuition only. Bring requirements listed on Confirmation/website. No concession.
Materials
Bring lunch, mug for tea/coffee and the following equipment:
Wooden spoon, metal spoon, plastic spatula, metal spatula, soft bowl scraper, Wire whisk, measuring spoons, measuring cup, measuring jug, pastry brush, scissors, tea towels, scourer, detergent, chux cloth, rolling pin, small pie or flan dish, large mixing bowl, baking sheet and knife, oven mitt, greaseproof paper, baking paper, large piping bag, medium star tube and medium plain tube, Glad wrap, scales and container/s to take uneaten food home.
- and the following ingredients;
2kg plain flour (no generic brands please)
1kg cooking margarine or butter (not table margarine)
500g castor sugar
1 doz eggs
Lemon Juice
Vanilla Extract
Icing Sugar
500g cooking chocolate
600mls thickened cream
large bag of cheap uncooked rice
favourite pie fillings and/or toppings (sweet or savoury)
PLEASE BRING A SMALL ESKY AND ICE TO KEEP YOUR PASTRY COLD AS WE CANNOT ALWAYS USE THE SCHOOL'S REFRIGERATOR.
If going to your course via the M5 please be aware that occasional roadwork on weekends may extend your travel time. Please allow plenty of time to arrive at your course on time.
