Photoshop Elements is a user friendly program that will allow you to improve your digital images and make the most out of your digital camera. You will learn various editing tools to enhance and retouch your photographs, as well as given ideas on creating personalised and unique prints. Layers, filters and blending techniques will be demonstrated and used within individual projects. Image resolution and resizing will also be explained. Participants must have experience in general computer skills (using the keyboard & mouse, and saving & retrieving files). Tutor holds B.A., Master of Creative Arts (Photography, Art History & Visual Art Theory) and Cert. IV TAA. No concession.
Agenda
1. Introduction & handouts.
2. Explanation of resolution, file formats and resizing of images.
3. Experimentation with contrast, black & white and colour manipulation.
4. Demonstation of editing and enhancement tools, including cloning, filters and levels.
5. Combining multiple photographs using layers and blending.
6. Manipulation of photographs into a composite photographic work.
7. Addition of text into an image or photograph.
Planned Learning Outcomes
By the end of the course, participants should be able to:
1. Recognise the elements which effect image resolution and size.
2. Utilise the basic editing tools in Photoshop Elements.
3. Select appropriate contrast and colour levels.
4. Understand how to use layers and blending modes to improve an image.
6. Create composite photographic works.
7. Design text into an image.
About the Tutor
Debra Pearson is an arts photographer and tutor. She holds a B.A. and Master of Creative Arts (Photography, Art History & Visual Art Theory), Cert. IV TAA and teaches at regional art galleries and adult community colleges. She has run a successful wedding photography business, as well as working as a community arts photographer and visual arts curator. Debra has produced photography for the media, corporate publications and exhibitions.
Materials
