Art Studio Z - Kids‘ Zone Express (Creative Minds Program)
It‘s our super zone of ultimate expression! A fun art-based school holiday program designed especially for our young creatives aged 8-12 (adaptable to participant). Brilliantly structured to unleash their individual and expressive qualities with the use of stimulating art tasks and projects as well as with guided topics and thinking skills. Developed in a structured format based on Jo‘s background in creative arts and psychology. Each class session is theme-based and age appropriate, and will encourage children‘s art exploration as well as their self-exploration. Our small class size is perfect for kids who may be a little shy. This also allows Jo to connect with each child individually. During ongoing attendance, they will learn about and experiment with drawing, painting, mixed-media, printmaking, collage, sculpture, creative colour and more. We will further explore a range of developmental topics including confidence, self-esteem, communication and personality. There are no rigid in-class expectations associated with set tasks and activities. Our primary focus is always on positive class interaction, involvement and enjoyment. Youngsters are absolutely welcome to re-enrol in further holidays to continue their creative and expressive development. No concession.

Art Studio Z - Teens‘ Art Action (Interactive Workshop)
Action ready! This art action-packed workshop is created especially for our teens aged 13 -15 (adaptable to participant) and is aimed at enabling them to individually express their thoughts and opinions through discussion as well as in their super creative artwork. A brilliant space to interact, express and create with their peers. Developed in a structured format based on Jo‘s background in creative arts and psychology. Each school holiday ‘Art Action‘ workshop will focus on a stimulating topic (relevant and appropriate to this age group), an art style/genre and selected art media - with a cryptic concept unravelled at start of class. Thoughts and opinions will be encouraged with each participant creating a work of art representing the workshop‘s theme. No art experience needed to get involved as Jo will work with each participant within our small class size. With an appreciation for gripping topics, modern art, and their ability to stir and generate thought and discussion, as well as providing an accepting and inviting space for our youngsters to create and express. Jo makes these inclusions the features of her distinctive teens‘ workshops. Teens are always welcome to re-enrol in any term. Art materials and guided references are all included. No concession..

Tutor Profile/Personal Introduction:
I‘m sure I must have been born with a pencil in my hand. I was told I could draw before I could walk or talk! My desire to draw, paint and design instinctively grew as I did. I followed my passion and formally studied Fine Arts, Commercial Art, Illustration, and Graphic Design. Happy days being a free spirited, quaintly eccentric art student! My progression into creative make-up came about with a love for make-up itself, my freaky fascination for Horror/Sci-Fi movies and admiration for the Theatre. My artistic learning continued; I studied Professional Make-up. With art tools in one hand and make-up tools in the other, I focused on freelance Illustration and Design, and Creative Make-up for Weddings, Fashion Shows, and Theatre Productions. Communication, mind and behaviour always had me captivated, and becoming a proud mum inspired me to hit the books again. I went on to study Psychology.
Teaching entered my world initially designing and conducting psych-infused art programs. Teaching took hold of my heart and I was pleasantly steered into tutoring college classes to share my knowledge and much-loved skills. My studio structured classes are all about learning new skills and techniques, and also about the important process of discovering and developing individual abilities with freedom and guidance. I value and place emphasis on my class environment being relaxed and comfortable to make learning thoroughly enjoyable. All classes are composed to be super easy to follow and understand. Participants of all ages present their creative and expressive uniqueness, and are always friendly and enthusiastic. They even (kindly) laugh at my bad jokes! For me, teaching is a true pleasure. Jo.
