Crochet Lace
An introduction to the basic stitches of foundational chain, treble and double and the methods of increasing and decreasing to produce a basic motif using mercer thread. Learn to read patterns and various methods of patterns today with the different terminology used in these altered methods, through discussion of problems encountered.
This workshop‘s aim is to learn how to make a simple motif and then progress to more complex forms of crochet, by learning the different joining methods for motifs and how to work a joining or filler motif. You are encouraged to bring patterns and problems encountered and these then can be dealt with in additional time in the second session if time permits. Consecutive weeks from start date. No concession.

Agenda
Basic crochet to familiarise student with basic crochet stitches of trebles, double crochet and foundational chain, increasing and decreasing.
Foundational chain and making an edge or piece of lace, reading patterns
Circular doily
Discussion of problems, patterns (if time).
Materials
Bring lunch, mug for tea/coffee, a steel crochet hook size 3 (milward)/ 1.25, 4 (milward)/ 1.00 mm and 5 (milward)/ 0.75 thread of mercer cotton 20, 40 or 60 (or a packet of various sizes). It would be useful to bring a fine steel crochet hook size 1.25 mm/ UK 3 and some mercerised crochet cotton No 20 or 40.
