The refresher/update course for HLTAID011 Provide first aid is nationally recognised.
Upon successful completion of the course, participants will receive a nationally recognised statement of attainment for the following units of competency:
- HLTAID009 - Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation
- HLTAID010 - Provide basic emergency life support
- HLTAID011 - Provide First Aid
Training conducted and certificate issued by Surf Life Saving NSW RTO 90394.
It is designed to refresh your knowledge on the essential principles, skills and knowledge to manage emergency first aid situations until professional medical support is available. Participants must hold a current first aid certificate on the training day to qualify for the update course. If the certificate has expired the participant must attend a First Aid - Flexible Delivery full day course. Certificate is valid for 3 years. It is recommended by the Australian Resuscitation Council that you update your CPR Skills every 12 Months. No concession.
Please note carefully, the following Refund and Cancellation Policy which in the case of First Aid courses is that of the Surf Life Saving Academy. An application for refund of course fees must be made in writing to Surf Life Saving NSW (Training Division) via MCC in the case of enrolments in MCC published courses. Where cancellation is made less than five (5) working days prior to the commencement of the course, 50% of the course fees will be charged. Participants who leave before finishing their course or who do not commence their course without submitting a written refund request will be charged the full course fee. The full applicable Refund Policy can be found on the Surf Life Saving NSW (Training Division) website.

The principles of first aid and its application * Recognition and management of emergency situations * Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation * Treatment of shock, infection, fractures, bleeding and burns * Emergencies due to lack of oxygen, excess heat or cold * Recognition and management of medical conditions that may need emergency care, including heart attack, stroke, asthma, diabetes and epilepsy * Management of common medical emergencies * Treatment of poisoning including venomous bites and stings
Materials
Once enrolled you will also receive a Booking Confirmation from Surf Life Saving NSW.
Bring lunch, mug (tea and coffee available), pen, paper and current First Aid qualification certificate/card. Wear comfortable clothing as you will be kneeling down to use resuscitation manikins.
All participants must bring ID (Passport, Drivers Licence, Proof of Age Card or Birth Certificate).
If going to your course via the M5 please be aware that occasional roadwork on weekends may extend your travel time. Please allow plenty of time to arrive at your course on time.
