Nationally Recognised Training Logo What is a traineeship?

A traineeship is a full-time or part-time employment based training arrangement. The Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care CHC30113 is a nationally accredited qualification, which is a prerequisite for the Diploma. A trainee will gain a theoretical background while working with children 0-6 years in a long day care, preschool, occasional care or family day care children‘s service.

The traineeship program usually runs over a period of 12 months for Certificate III. The trainee can be employed for as little as 15 hours per week during the period of traineeship. The trainee will work and study at the same time.

A traineeship is supported by a Macarthur Community College (RTO 6860) Assessor. The qualified Assessor visits the Trainee at the workplace approximately every 6 weeks to discuss their progress, monitor their study and observe and assess their skills and knowledge.

What are the benefits of a Traineeship? Trainees can be employed full time or part time (for as little as 15 hours per week). The trainee will work and study at the same time gaining experience in a hands-on environment. Employers have the opportunity to develop a well-trained, versatile and multi-skilled workforce. They will benefit from increased staff ratios and access to well qualified Educators on completion of their traineeship Educators working with trainees will gain leadership skills and benefit from professional conversations with the supporting Assessor. Employers are eligible for financial incentives and access to flexible training arrangements to meet the needs of the individual education and care service.

Do you offer traineeships at your Education and Care Service, or is this a new venture for you?

If it‘s a new venture, don‘t worry - contact us and we will explain the process and help you get started. We also have an information pack attached below. Please take the opportunity to read more information.

If you have had trainees in the past and still have contact details for an AAC, let them know you wish Macarthur Community College to be your RTO when you sign up your trainee.

Information pack available from College website:

Agenda

1. A trainee and Education and Care Centre agree to the training arrangement.
2. You then need to contact an Australian Apprenticeship Centre (AAC).
3. When the AAC comes to the centre, advise them that you request Macarthur Community College to be responsible for training. Our RTO number is 6860.
4. We will then be sent a proposal which we will sign and begin preparing to visit the trainee.
5. Once approval has been granted with a TCID (Training Contract ID) number, we organise to conduct an induction visit. ID is shown, enrolment forms signed and learning commenced.
6. From then on, the assessor will visit the trainee regularly - approximately every 6 weeks to keep learning on track and discuss work skills with the employer.
