A course for the beginner or more advanced sewer. Learn to make garments for yourself or family using a commercial pattern. Individual guidance given by the tutor will give you a professional look and fit. Includes sewing with stretch fabrics. Bring requirements listed on Confirmation/website first session. Your sewing machine will be required from Week 2.
Agenda
* Demonstration of pattern pieces onto fabric, measurement taking, understanding pattern envelope
* Cut out garment, pin and fit
* Start sewing garment
* Zipper sample - continue garment assembly
* Check garment fit, continuing garment assembly using pattern instruction sheet with tutor guidance
* Complete garment - hems.
On average a participant will complete one garment during course.
Materials
Do not purchase equipment until you confirm that the course is running.
Please purchase fabric and pattern (to fit your bust size) - check fabric suggestions, yardage and requirements on back of pattern envelope - if a stretch fabric is called for, it must be used. Prewash fabric before first session and bring scissors, pins, handsewing needles, tape measure and thread to match fabric.
Week 2: Please bring your machine.
Venue
Campbelltown Performing Arts HS is on Beverley Road, off Chamberlain Street.
Car parks are in the school grounds off Beverley Road.
Co-ordinators (Craig or Gavin) are located in the single level Administration building next to the Hall, from 7pm to 9pm.
Centre is 1.2km from railway station.
