If you are over 10 years old and have a passion to sew, come and join our sewing class whether you are a beginner or have some experience. Create a garment or item of your choice using a commercial pattern - extra help and advice also available with HSC projects. Ages 10-18. Bring requirements listed on Confirmation/website first session.

Agenda

* Discussion on purchasing pattern and fabric, reading pattern envelope, measurement taking, practice on sewing machine, demonstration - pattern layout
* Cut out garment, pin and fit
* Begin sewing garment with individual guidance
* Weeks 4-5 Continue garment/project, fitting and making adjustment
* Demonstration on making buttonholes, continue on garment
* Complete garment

On average a participant will complete one garment during course.

Materials

Do not purchase equipment until you confirm that the course is running.

Bring pen, notebook, 1/2 metre calico and sewing kit (scissors, tape measure, pins, thread, etc) first session. You will need to purchase a pattern and material for Week 2 and bring your sewing machine from Week 2/3 (discussed first session).
Sewing machine, if you have one you may bring it, otherwise the college can provide one for you to use
