This comprehensive Photography Course is for anyone whom wishes to start or restart their journey in Photography, but it is also suitable for all levels of Photography, whether you are a Beginner or you want to learn to set up and use your camera properly, and improve on your skillset.
Learn the fundamentals, and the principles of Photography in depth. You will go beyond the ‘full auto‘ or program setting on your digital Optical DSLR, Mirrorless, 4/3rds, Superzoom or Bridge camera or Adjustable Compact camera using the Shutter, Aperture, and Manual modes.
Learn how to set up, and use your camera properly, and capture truly creative and memorable photographs.
This comprehensive course concludes with Travel photography, how to tell a story and get the most of your Photography when you are travelling.
This course is held within the centre of Camden (Camden Library is our meeting point). This course has a maximum of 8 participants, for a greater learning experience, and more one to one time with the Tutor.
Learn with a Professional Photography Tutor, with over 50 years of experience in Photography including over 10 years of Photography Tutoring, and over 20 years of Digital Photography and Digital Post processing. No concession.
Agenda
Week 1
Correct camera set up; Picture Styles and How to see in Colour and Black and White (monochrome).
Setting up menus, know your camera controls, recording images, playback and toolbox, Getting it sharp, Focusing and Recomposing Focus and recompose.
Week 2
Light, lighting exposure, under and over exposure, high key and low key lighting, aperture and depth of field.
Flash; how to use your built in flash or accessory flash, to get the most out of those situations when you don‘t have enough light.
Week 3
Composition; Point of View POV, Framing, Composition and Negative space.
Using different Apertures, and how they affect Depth of Field (how much is in focus in your photograph) and how to create dramatic photographs using depth of field.
Week 4
Capturing the Moment and Action Photography, Motor drive set up Focusing modes, Shutter speeds including Freezing (faster) Capturing the Moment and Panning (slower). Long exposures using a tripod, and introduction to light painting. Please note: Neoklis will have four tripods for participants to share.
Week 5
Travel Photography; how to tell a story and get the most of your Photography when you are travelling. Introduction to using different focal lengths, and how to use your lens(es) properly to get the best possible photographs from your travels, holidays and weekends away.
Learn the fundamentals and principles of Photography including;
*Light and exposure Under and over exposure / high key low key lighting
*How to Focus properly, and recompose
*Framing and Composition
*Night photography (handheld)
*Flash photography
*Aperture and Depth of Field
*Shutter speeds freezing and blurring
*Long exposures, using a tripod and introduction to light
painting.
*Travel Photography
*Introduction to using different focal lengths
Weather:
This course will run regardless of the weather (unless it is extreme and dangerous), to give participants an opportunity to photograph in fine or wet weather.
Please note:
General Photography is permitted, but; (close up photos of families / adults and especially identifying children under 18 years old, or adults should not be taken or be published online or printed, unless a model waiver has been signed)
Refreshments and transport to and from and any other expenses are not included in the cost of this course.

What you will need for Photography sessions;
Camera Equipment;
Any adjustable digital camera; DSLR or 4,3rds, Mirrorless , Superzoom , Bridge camera , Adjustable Compact camera with;
*RAW - JPEG image capability (JPEG only is fine)
*adjustable ISO, film speed settings
*with adjustable exposure settings; shutter, aperture, and manual exposure i.e. S or TV, A or AV, and M,
*With manual- autofocus capability
*Also if your camera has adjustable picture control, picture style settings, film simulations i.e. monochrome standard, neutral, etc
*Batterie(s) charged and ready x 2 if you have them
*Memory card(s) at least x 2 if you have them

Any Zoom Lenses you have
18 55 mm , 18 135 mm , 16 35mm , 28 to 80 mm , 10 20mm , 40 150mm , 70 200 etc
and or
Any Prime lens(es) if you have them i.e. fisheye , wide angle , standard, telephoto
i.e 15mm , 20 mm , 35 mm , 50 mm , 85mm , 135mm
Lens notes;
*If you have any lens with a fast aperture of f1.4 , f1.8 , f2.0 , f2.8 , f4.0 etc will be very useful night time photography
Tripod kit
For Week 4 if you have a tripod, please bring it with you and make sure you have also packed the tripod plate and a cable release (if you have one).
Please note: Neoklis will have 4 x tripods, and a 1 x mini pod for participants to share.
What to wear:
*Cool , Cold weather - Warm clothing layers , jumper, warm insulated jacket, vest, pants, scarf, beanie.
*Warmer hot weather - comfortable clothing, hat and sunglasses and sunscreen
*For all sessions, in case it rains - Wet weather , rain jacket (if rain is forecast, wet weather gear - clothing is recommended head to toe) and a mini umbrella only, no large umbrellas for safety reasons.
Please note sessions will run in wet weather, if extreme weather is forecast, all participants will be notified if the session is to be postponed.
Footwear:
*Closed in footwear for your safety; acceptable; weatherproof closed walking , running shoes , hiking boots with rubber soles (no thongs , sandals , high heels etc)
Additional items:
*A torch LED and a cob-lamp , headlamp are essential to adjust set up your camera in the dark (* a smartphone is not recommended)
*Own food, snacks and water
*Note pad and pen
*Bug repellent
*A small towel for yourself ,camera,
*A face mask(personal preference) is recommended especially for feedback
*Alcohol-based hand sanitiser should be at least 70 - 90 percent alcohol, Antibacterial wipes Camera (LCD) screen cleaner
