Set amongst the magnificent Australian Botanic Garden Mount Annan, during this comprehensive four hour field trip , Neoklis will teach you the fundamentals and principals of Landscape Photography.
This field trip will include; How to use any lens to create dramatic photographs; How to really make your compositions by Utilising your Point of View (POV), Creating dramatic composition; Framing, Composition, Negative Space and, Aspect Ratios; I.e., square, rectangular and panoramic.
Using lenses creatively, lens magnification, and Zooming with your feet.
How to use filters effectively for Landscape Photography for both Black and white and colour photography including; Circular polarising filter and graduated ND filters.
The Tutor will teach you how to ‘see beyond‘ the secret ingredient to great Photography.

You will be given professional, practical and one to one help, hone your Photographic skills, and learn in a relaxed but informative atmosphere, with an experienced Professional Photography Tutor with over fifty years of experience, in Photography and over 10 years of Photography Tutoring experience.

A maximum of 6 participants for a greater learning experience, and more one to one time with the Tutor.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES FOR YOUR SESSION

Field trip Outline:

Creating dramatic photographs in Colour and Black & White

Comprehensive Set up, in depth theory and tuition of how to see and Photograph in both Colour and Black & White (monochrome)
Learn how to see and interpret light
Creating dramatic Light and Shadow Effects;
Silhouette, over and under exposure, extreme lighting and flare effects
How to use any lens to create dramatic photographs;
Point of View POV
Using your lens(es) creatively, lens magnification, and Zooming with your feet.
Creating dramatic composition;
Framing, Composition, Negative Space and, Aspect Ratios; I.e., square, rectangular and panoramic.
The Tutor will teach you how to ‘see beyond‘ the secret ingredient to great Photography.

USING a circular polarizer known as a CPL

Using Graduated Neutral Density GND filter

Neoklis will also demonstrate how to use these filters effectively for Landscape Photography.
Even if you don‘t have filters Neoklis will have his camera and filter kit to share (including step up rings to adapt his filter(s) where possible).
If you do not have any filters, Please bring at least 1 extra blank SD card, for Nik‘s set up with filter(s), which will be available to share.

Camera Equipment;
Any adjustable digital camera; DSLR / 4/3rds / Mirrorless with;
*RAW / JPEG image capability
*adjustable ISO/film speed settings
*with adjustable exposure settings; shutter, aperture, and manual exposure i.e. S or TV, A or AV, and M
*with manual/autofocus capability
*also if your camera has adjustable picture control / picture style settings i.e. monochrome standard, neutral, etc

Batterie(s) Fully charged and ready 2 or 3.

Memory card(s) 3 if you have them

A spare camera body / compact camera only if you have one

Compact cameras make for a great backup camera as you will have something with you, not only for an emergency, but to extend your Photography possibilities.

LENS / LENSES
You need either;
At least one Zoom lens(es) with manual focus capability
18 55 mm , 18 135 mm , 16 35mm , 28 to 80 mm, 10 20mm , 40 150mm , 70 200 etc

and or

Prime lens(es) if you have any
if you have them i.e. 15mm , 20mm , 24 mm 35 mm , 50 mm , 85mm, 105mm, 135mm , 200mm

and or

Any specialised lenses only if you have them
I.e
FISHEYE / ultra- wide angle
Super telephoto (for extreme compression)

Lens notes;
Any lens with a fast aperture of f1.4 / f1.8 / f2.0 / f2.8 / f4.0 etc is very useful for ‘bokeh‘ out of focus background / foreground / shallow depth of field photographs.


Filters

A circular polarizer known as a CPL (strongly recommended)


Only if you have any of the following
Neutral Density Filters;
Graduated Neutral Density ND

If you do not have any filters, Please bring at least 1 extra blank SD card, for Nik‘s set up with filter(s), which will be available to share.

The Tutor will bring his entire filter set to share, including step up rings to adapt filter(s) where possible


What to wear:
Please dress sensibly to the weather conditions, make sure that you are prepared with any wet weather gear, large umbrellas are ok away from trafficked areas, please pack a small umbrella too for safety purposes.

Essential Footwear:
You will need proper footwear for this field trip, Please note; to participate you must wear enclosed footwear only, no open footwear i.e; sandals, high heels, open shoes, smooth soled shoes cannot be worn for this field trip.

For your safety acceptable footwear is as follows; Shoes / boots with grip / with rubber soles i.e; walking shoes, running shoes, bush walking shoes or hiking boots / weather-proof footwear / boots etc

Weather:
This field trip will run in light rain, to allow participants to photograph in fine or wet weather. Unless it is high wind / extreme weather this field trip will be postponed

Safety Items
(Personal preference)
Please be sure to pack any additional safety items if you require them (personal preference);
Face mask especially for feedback, handkerchief, Tissues, Alcohol-based hand sanitiser, disposable gloves, antibacterial wipes etc.

Additional items:
It is strongly advisable to bring ample water at least 600ml
Food, snacks, drinks etc.
Bug repellent.
Glasses, note pad and pen.
Cushion.
A small towel (in case of rain, humidity, heat).


Please Note; General photography is permitted, but; (close-up photos of families, adults and especially identifying children under 18 years old should not be taken, or be published, unless a model waiver has been signed).

Additional costs
Parking fees, transport to and from, lunch, water, drinks, snacks, food etc, are not included.

By car, The Australian Botanic Garden can be accessed from both, Narellan and Mount Annan Roads, Mount Annan.

Please allow at least an extra 15 minutes to get to P3 Parking area from Narellan Road, (as there are wildlife, and shared low speed zones, and pedestrian areas on the way through).
