Working with drawing and mixed media, you will explore creativity as a tool for mindfulness and self-expression in a supportive, pressure-free environment.
Perfect for beginners or anyone who feels uncreative, or a little out of practice, this course focuses on process over perfection. Each week offers a chance to slow down, try something new, and enjoy making art for yourself.

About the Tutor:
Rhonda Dee is a Sydney-based visual artist and creative producer with over 25 years of experience delivering arts and wellbeing programs across museums, universities, and community settings. With postgraduate training in counselling and in the arts, she creates supportive spaces where creativity is accessible to everyone. This course supports wellbeing through creative practice but is not a form of clinical therapy.

Agenda

Week 1: Slow Down & Start
Ease into the course with a guided relaxation and simple drawing to help you settle, focus, and begin exploring your creativity.

Week 2: Seeing Differently
Use natural objects and gentle observation to quiet the mind and build focus through drawing.

Week 3: Letting Go of Perfection
Explore freer, more expressive mark-making to build confidence and loosen up creatively.

Week 4: Reflection & Personal Meaning
Combine simple writing and collage to reflect, reset, and explore what matters to you.

Week 5: Trusting the Process
Try a playful drawing approach that strengthens focus and encourages you to let go of overthinking.

Week 6: Listening & Responding
Use music and sound as inspiration to create intuitive, expressive artwork.

Week 7: Finding Balance
Create a personal mandala to explore balance, rhythm, and inner and outer connection.

Week 8: Creative Growth & Moving Forward
Reflect on your journey and experiment with materials in a final session focused on curiosity, confidence, and next steps.


Materials

Basic, affordable materials required (approximately $30-$50), or bring what you already have.
1 x A3 Sketchbook 1x 6B pencil, 1x eraser
Pen for writing
glue stick
Choose either: 1 pack of oil or chalk pastels or felt tip, coloured markers or pack of coloured pencils
1 box willow charcoal or sticks of soft compressed charcoal

Knitting for Beginners


  • Come and learn basic knitting techniques and reading patterns that will enable you to create your own inspirations. Bring 4mm needles. Tutor will have starter kits, needles and 8 ply yarn available for a small fee. Bring along your problem projects and we will solve them for you. Art - Botanical Drawing for Beginners


  • Come along and explore different aspects of drawing botanical flowers. This genre is a particular love of mine, it always gives me great pleasure drawing flowers (especially roses) in pencil, charcoal, conte and pastels.

  • A great way to help you lose weight, reduce stress and improve your posture. Improved flexibility decreases injuries and minimises recovery time from workouts.
