In this course, you‘ll learn how to turn your breath into your own unique sound. The harmonica is a reed instrument, meaning you create music simply by inhaling and exhaling, while developing control over your breathing. With the right techniques, you‘ll also strengthen your lungs and build confidence in your playing.

Rather than focusing on repetitive scales, this course gets you making great sounds from the very beginning. You‘ll quickly connect with your instrument, express yourself through music, and enjoy the process every step of the way.

Agenda

Week 1: Understanding the layout of a Diatonic Harmonica, the hand grip and embouchure.

Week 2: Practicing the single note technique and basic chords

Week 3: Extending the single note technique along the scale

Week 4: Rhythm exercises between 2 notes with breathing exercises

Week 5:Adding feelings( colours) to the sound with hand wah wah, vibrato,hand shake

Week 6: Introduction to bending notes entirely on drawing on holes 1 through 6

Week 7: Introduction to the train whistle, Rhythm and timing

Week 8: Combine all and come up with your own tune

Materials

Week 1: Bring your own Harmonica in the key of C ( Diatonic), commonly known as the Blues harp (10) holes.
Choose your own brand of Harmonica as long they are new, never lend it to anyone or buy a second hand due to hygienic reason. (Rranges from $20-$90)
Do not purchase your harmonica until the course is confirmed. This will be about one week prior to commencement.
